Mac OS X Lion (v10.7, released July 20, 2011), was released without full support for PIV tokens. Because of this, certificates that had been loaded onto GoldKey tokens were no longer usable after upgrading.
Note: You will still be able to view the certificates on your token using the GoldKey software.
Additionally, support for smart card login to local accounts has been removed in OS X Lion. Read Apple’s official announcement.
In order to support PIV in OS X Lion, we recommend that you install the latest version of Smart Card Services released by MacOSForge, which can be found here. Once this is installed, the certificates on your GoldKey token will once again be usable by the operating system.
