In some releases of Windows 8, the ICCD driver that is distributed with the operating system has a problem that affects the use of GoldKey tokens with built-in flash.
While using the defective driver, users will be able to access the flash on their token, but the GoldKey software and pre-loaded applications will be unable to detect the GoldKey. GoldKey tokens without built-in flash utilize a different driver, and so are not affected by this issue.
Installing the Drivers
We have created a utility that installs the specific updates needed to properly detect GoldKey tokens with built-in flash. We recommend that you download and run this utility:
Alternatively, you may install the version of this driver that is used in Windows 7 and Vista. This driver is available here and through the Microsoft Update Catalog. To install this driver:
- Download the appropriate driver for your operating system:
- Extract the contents of the ZIP file to a new folder on your Desktop.
- Open the folder you created in step 2, right-click on the WUDFUsbccidDriver.inf file, and click Install.
After running the update utility or installing the USB CCID driver manually, you may be prompted to reboot your computer. The GoldKey software should now detect your GoldKey token.
